Protection in situ
Protecting phytogenetic and zoogenetic pools in situ is the primary approach adopted for conservation. It is provided through routinely caring for important natural habitats in the Krkonoše Mountains as well as individual occurrences of rare, endangered and specially protected species of flora and fauna, an example being the Gentianella bohemica conservation plan. Monitoring the normal condition of populations of these is underway within selected areas and there is ongoing research into the biological manifestations of selected species, with increased attention paid to each subject of protection under the law of the European Community, i.e. vascular plants and spore-bearing plants, selected species of fungi, vertebrates as well as invertebrates.
