Taking care of water courses
KRNAP Administration oversees more than 550 km of water courses in order to maintain their ecological and landscape functions, this including the geomorphology of river valleys and ensuring sufficient water flow. The tasks involved cover things such as ensuring care of riparian vegetation, maintaining existing flood protection measures, removing woody mass and gravel deposits in river beds and flood prevention. The authority also assesses any development of small hydro-power plants to avoid conflict with other legitimate interests of nature conservation, e.g. geomorphological, botanical, zoological and landscape aspects.
